Court Yard Hounds – Amelita

Well hello gorgeous ladies! Where have you been all my life? Or at least the past few years? After a few years away from the limelight and the Dixie Chicks, the two sisters were ready to get back into the studio with the creation of Court Yard Hounds. Amelita, out now, marks the Court Yard Hounds’ second album. The new album contains 11 new tracks and a new perspective, which is due in part to time passed since Robison’s divorce. “I’ve been freed of all of those time-heals-everything kind of things,” says Robison. “Now, I’ve opened up to other ideas and ways of looking at life and the world. I think it’s not only a more hopeful album, but it’s more… well fun.”

I love this band…the way we explore new aspects of ourselves and what we can expect from each other, both musically and as people,” says Martie. “We are close. Plus, being on the road and being in the studio is like my spa from the everyday challenges of just being a mom.

One of my faves from a first listen – ‘The World Smiles‘. It is definitely a song to listen to on the morning to get your attitude in check and ready to conquer the day. The songs on this album have an undeniable edge to them, with songs that strike a cord in both life and relationships. ‘Phoebe‘ is a flashback to high school, mean girls and gossipy boys. But man it makes you want to go back to those horrid days and kick some butt! It also has great break-up, make up and new found love songs. You are sure to find a song that suites any of your moods on any given day.

The Court Yard Hounds’ new album is a clear statement of who the girls are as artists, defining their sound as a band, with soaring songs that are personal, yet familiar. You can score their new album on Amazon or iTunes. And of course, be sure to keep up with the Court Yard Hounds on Twitter and FaceBook for all the up to the minute news and music.

Love Me Some Josh Doyle

Singer-songwriter Josh Doyle (formerly of the UK band The Dumdums) has just shared the official music video for his lead-off solo single, “Solarstorms.”  The track comes from Josh’s self-titled debut full length (available now on iTunes), which was produced by Grammy Award winning John Shanks as the result of winning a singer-songwriter competition through Guitar Center.

Doyle recently made his US television debut performing the single on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and plans to tour in support of the album in 2013. Watch away and let me know you thoughts!
