oh friday …. how i have missed you

What a week! There is nothing like a few warm spring days to renew your spirit. I know though, that this is just a short visit. Snow is right around the corner – like tomorrow! Grrrrr. My poor daffodils will never get a chance to bloom. *le sigh*
The wonderful Ann is hosting yet another pone of her Friday night virtual girl’s night at her place. She wants us to describe spring using one letter. My letter was R. Hmmmmmm. I would like to say recharge, rainbows, rebirth, rain and robins but with snow making an unwanted appearance tomorrow I think I will choose REALLY?!? What will your letter and words be? Head on over to Ann’s for some great party music and some yummy martinis. This lassie is off to a real girl’s night of her own!
Oh, before I forget! Looking for some new business cards? For free perhaps? Check out my review site for a chance to win!

top ten tuesday – realization

Ever have one of those “ah ha” moments? Lately, I have been having quite a few of them. I am grasping (and enjoying) every minute of them because typically I just have “doh” or “duh” moments. Such is the life of a Mom I suppose. Then last night I had another realization – why keep all these great nuggets of goodness to myself? That would just be plain selfish now wouldn’t it? I’m telling you – my brain is on fire! Pathetic I know. Feel free to run away at any time. But if you choose to stay around, be nice. Oh, and don’t judge the awesomeness of what is left of my brain. K, thanks.
Top Ten Most Recent Realizations

1. While drinking a Red Bull at 8:30 to stay awake for your soccer game sounds like a good idea, it doesn’t seem like such a great idea at 11 pm when your brain is still firing away.
2. I still receive a great deal of satisfaction from slamming someone into the boards during an indoor soccer game. I am beginning to wonder if that is bad, if it is one of the effects of drinking Red Bull and what it says about me.
3. I am finally getting up the nerve to move my blog over to my own domain. What? You know I have had that domain for almost two years and still haven’t taken the plunge… Hey, I said no judging!
4. I realized today that my four year old really thinks Handy Manny can solve all of our household problems. While skiing this weekend I broke my ski glasses. I have them on the counter with the hopes of finding someone to fix them. My four year old said, “Handy Manny can fix them Momma!” When I asked him if he could take them to Handy Manny he replied, “Momma, I don’t have his cell phone number!” He then sighed like I was a moron and walked away. Awesome.
5. Surprises from your Hubby are truly the BEST things in the world!
6. Scaring the bejeebers out of your nine year old when you open the surprise and squeal at the top of your lungs is even better!
7. Pulling out a stray grey hair only pisses it off and makes it come back with friends.
8. Girl Scout cookies are a product of the devil. Nuf said.
9. When the world is full of crap and crappy people, eating a PB&J with a glass of milk makes it a whole lot more tolerable.
10. Growing out your hair takes way longer then cutting it. *sigh*
What are your recent revelations?? I am sure you have had something far more philosophical then I have.

every thing’s blissful

The time is finally here. Time for divas from across the country , and some from overseas, to gather in Nashville and get their Bliss on! This year’s event is being elegantly hosted at the gorgeous Opryland Hotel. Since getting in last night I have only gotten lost a handful of times. Hopefully by Sunday I will have this place mastered!
So what exactly goes into prepping for a blogging conference. Come on, I know you are dying to know. Well, first and foremost – PLAN. The spread sheet I saw, well, it darn right scared me. And that was just for volunteers. I don’t even want to think of THE spread sheet. *shivers*

Even worse then planning for the conference – planning what to pack. Hundreds of women equals a whole lot of luggage. (Sorry for the bad quality but my cell doesn’t take the best pics.)

Technology is EVERY where! Whether it is iPhones, Blackberries, laptops – you name it. If it connects, it’s here! What better way to keep up on the constant twitter streams or know where the latest action is happening. Did someone say Dance Off?!?

Everyone will be lugging their cameras. As cliche as it sounds, you know you’re at a blogging convention when everyone takes pictures of their food before they eat and then discusses the plate’s composition. Yeah, we can be lame like that.
So that’s just a quick glance at day one. Stay tuned for a more in-depth view into the inner workings and happenings. Off to enjoy the bliss!

It’s that day again. That wonderful, glorious day. The day we wait all week for. Friday!! This week seems to have been exceptionally long and I am beat. Time to relax and enjoy a little shindig at Ann’s known as VGNO!

I wanted to make sure I took a moment to say “CONGRATS” to Leslie from JAM’s Own Reality, who was the winner of my custom 100 postcard giveaway from UPrinting. Way to go Leslie! Can’t wait to see what you create!

Ann’s game this week helps you discover your inner librarian name. Mine was Pepper Anitacocktail. Not fond of the first name Pepper but love my last name! Head on over to Ann’s to discover yours!

I have been in mass planning mode for the big Blissfully Domestic Conference next week. Any of you heading to Blissdom? If you are let me know and I will let you know how to hunt me down! Did you hear who else is going to be there?? (besides me of course) Yep, this lassie gets to hunker right up to Harry Connick Jr. *swoon* From our little shin dig on Friday he is heading to Clive Davis’ super-exclusive Grammy Party! Well, don’t I just feel special! And of course, since I will be elbowing up with such a cutie patooty, I definitely need to get some shopping done. Oh, I know they say that conferences are not all about the fashion, but let’s be serious. It is ALL about the fashion. Luckily, this lassie was able to score her some sassy new boots. Of course, I will take any excuse I can get to expense sassy new boots!

So stay on the look out for more up to the minute excitement as the date gets closer! I am working with a fellow Bliss girl for a possible photo contest/ giveaway in correlation with our Avon Walk. For now, go out and mingle, pour yourself a beverage of choice and let me know your sassy librarian name!

random tuesday thoughts

randomtuesday
Since I was quite productive this weekend I couldn’t think of much for a “Not Me Monday” post. No, seriously. I was on this week. Ok, there may have been a few mishaps, but nothing extremely blogworthy. There was however, a lot of random things here and there. Why not squish it all together for Random Tuesday Thoughts??
I am highly disgruntled by the amount of people that have their Christmas lights and houses completely decorated. It’s not Thanksgiving yet people!! This lassie is holding on to her autumn pumpkins for as long as possible.
My disgruntledness (yes, it’s a word) towards decorating has nothing to do with the fact that I don’t know where we packed all our various Christmas lights and decor. THAT would require rummaging through box after box after box in the basement.
I will also admit that I have seriously contemplated going out and buying all new decorations just so I don’t have to go searching for them. Some may call that lazy. I am looking at it as resourceful! *ahem*
By the way, I see you raising your eye brow and giving me the stink eye. Don’t think I don’t!
I am really looking forward to my ALL time favorite holiday this week. Can I get a squeeee for Thanksgiving?! I knew I could.
I am also looking forward to spending time with my family… oh and of course… my aunt’s sweet potatoes. Yummmmm, I am salivating already. Good thing Hubby doesn’t like them. More for me!!
Any random thoughts you would like to share? Head on over to Keely’s for more random madness!

vgno – hubby takes over

Oh, yes. The rumors are true. This lassie gets her self a get out of jail girl’s night out pass tonight! (and NOT just a virtual one) I have the pleasure of getting together with some girlfriends over beverages. Did I mention there would be no children involved? Yep, they will be home with the Hubby. Sigh… I can feel the happiness brewing!

In honor of Hubby staying home and manning down the fort, I thought I would play some of his favorite tunage. He has played and sent me this song many a times. Warning – this is not your typical mushy love song! Nope, he definitely doesn’t work that way. Instead he goes for the dance music with meaning. Not to mention the lead singer has the most amazingly ripped stomach. Oh, did I just type that? (inside voice Kat, inside voice!)

And what better way to say Thank You to the world’s greatest husband then to offer a giveaway! UPrinting is offering one of my lucky readers a chance to win 50 custom Thank You Cards! drum roll please

As I am sure you remember, I was offering up beauty advice and a giveaway in honor of my 666th post. What better way to mark the sign of the devil then with some fun beauty products! You don’t see the correlation? Hmmm. Yeah, me neither. But it’s a giveaway so that is all that really matters, right?

My winner according to Random.org is: 6 Thanks to Unilever (and RocketXL), I am happily sending a box of beauty to…… Matt! Well, actually he entered for his wife Robin. Isn’t he the best?! I will also point out that Matt has a FABULOUS website called ‘A Good Time With Wine’. Matt loves wine, food, family and Macs. No wonder Robin snagged him! They also have a wine store/gift site – which is a must see.
Thanks to all who entered!

beauty tip tuesday

Ok, I really wanted to save my 666th post for this Saturday but how is a Lassie supposed to not post ALL week? Well, I know it would be pretty easy to do but I’m dedicated, I’m ambitious, I’m…. are you buying any of this yet?? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

So in honor of my 666th post I am going to tell you one of my favorite beauty tips and offer you a treat – a box of beauty – from Unilever! No tricks here I swear!
One of my new favorite beauty products is Pond’s Original Clean towelettes. This all in one wash cloth cleans your face while removing even the toughest make-up. Can you believe it can even remove water proof mascara!? Amazing! It removes all the impurities from your skin – even deep in your pores. What girl doesn’t need that? I love the fact that it gently cleans my face and removes my make-up in one easy step. Cause let’s be honest, by the time I get around to washing my face I am exhausted. This is the perfect product for this lazy tired lassie.

With Pond’s towelettes, you can grab-and-go for quick, easy beauty maintenance! They even come in three different formulas: Original, Micro Dermabrasion and Age Defying. Plus they made Allure Magazine’s list of BEST beauty products of the year!!

Ready for your treats? Leave a comment and you will be enetered to win a box of treats from Unilever including products from Dove, Vaseline, Pond’s and Q-Tips. You even get a treat if you don’t win the prize pack! Just go to Pond’s website you can get a $1.50 off coupon to try them for yourself!! Now go on… treat yourself!

vgno – it’s giveaway time!!

I made it! Ever have weeks where you feel like that? This week has definitely been one of those. Thank goodness Ann is hosting her weekly Virtual Girl’s Night Out!! This Lassie needs one!

As part of this week’s blog hopping extravaganza, I am hosting an uber fabulous giveaway. You know I am a HUGE fan of music. Love, love, love it. It is a trait that I have happily passed on to my boys. While none of us can sing worth a lick, we can dance and jig like nobodies business.

This week I am happy to introduce, thanks to One2One Network, a new up and coming musician. While her music isn’t the type to get down and shake your booty too, it does have a great folksy sound. May I introduce you to Brandi Carlile and her new record Give Up the Ghost! My favorite song on the CD you query? Why it is definitely THIS SONG – Dreams.

When I first heard her latest CD I was immediately reminded of the Indigo Girls. Well no wonder! She worked with Amy Ray on the song ‘Looking Out’. Brandi also had the opportunity to work with Elton John, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers multi-instrumentalist Benmont Tench and drummer Chad Smith.

While I am not sure this CD will be a daily regular play, I can definitely see it as a road trip CD or played to help mellowing out after a long day. Of course, it’s the perfect fit for tonight while I veg out in front of the fire with my large glass of Merlot. Mmmmmm, I can feel the relaxation now!
Want you own chance to win Brandi’s latest CD, ‘Give Up The Ghost’? Leave a comment with your email and you will be entered. I will pick and post the winner at next week’s VGNO! See you then!
