Beth had been down this road before. She knew as she listened that Cameron’s words were full of empty promises, adages said just to fill the quiet voids in their conversation. Words spewed to masquerade the truth.
As if sensing her annoyance at his feeble attempt to explain his transgressions, Cameron stopped talking and gazed into Beth’s eyes.
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“I don’t want you to say anything Cameron.”
As Cameron exhaled, a look of countenance washed over his face.
“Cam, I don’t have the strength to do this anymore. I’m done. We’re….. done.”
